Founder of Doctoring Differently
I am a pediatrician who was looking for unconventional strategies for practicing medicine within my community when I discovered Veteran Medical Group. Dr. Sefa-Boakye and her team provided unrivaled training and support as I navigated the world of Veteran disability work for the first time. She is infectiously passionate about this field and eager to answer any question no matter how big or small.
Her transparent exuberance in providing top-notch Veteran care is unrivaled. I simply would not have been as successful in this field without the VMG team and look forward to working with this organization for years to come.

After more than 15 years of practicing general medicine, I was exhausted and burnt out from the constant battle with administration on quality patient care! I decided to take a leap of faith — best decision I ever made for my medical career! Now I have the flexibility of my own schedule, better salary and still provide a needed service to the Veterans in my community!!

I have worked in Family Practice and Cardiology since 2015 as a Primary Care Provider. I was interested in working in a specialty with a more flexible schedule in order to be more available for my young children. I am very pleased with the convenience of working with VMG and to serve the great Veterans of this nation who made the ultimate sacrifice for us.

It has been a pleasure and an honor to be able to work with VMG and Dr. Sefa. She has always been available since the first day. I have received all the support that I possible can and Dr.Sefa always makes herself available no matter what time of day it is or what day of the week, weekend. It is truly amazing to have a supportive team and know that you are not alone and that the whole team is there for you.
I couldn’t have made a better choice in coming on board with VMG and Dr. Sefa it has truly been a great learning and growing experience with them. Thank you!

The VMG training was one of the best experiences of my career. I have 13 plus years experience in nursing and have worked for other government contracts, this training does not compare to any other. Dr Sefa and Diallo provide such a welcoming environment, so welcoming the week you are there doesn’t feel long enough. The amazing atmosphere is perfect for this intense training. The training is so thorough and comprehensive. It is a perfect mixture of hands on experiences and lectures to fully help you understand how to best help the Veterans you will be seeing.
Going into this training I had zero military exposure so it was all new to me and a new language. I learned enough in this training to feel capable of seeing Veterans as soon as I got back. I knew I had been well trained but more so that I would have all the support that I needed going forward. On multiple occasions I have had one on one assistance from Dr. Sefa. She is always available to answer any of my questions via message or schedule a zoom meeting

Performing C&P exams is a unique clinical experience, and Dr. Sefa made navigating these exams very simple through her training exercises and modules. I’m proud to serve our Veterans with VMG!

I started evaluating veterans in April after taking a VMG training class. I advise anyone that is interested in doing veteran assessments to go through VMG training! You will learn many skills on how to correctly assess the veterans and chart appropriately. I would not have been successful without this class and resources provided. Dr. Sefa and her team come with a wealth of knowledge and are very supportive. The whole experience was awesome!

I am very thankful to be a part of the VMG team. I had no previous experience with Veterans Disability Exams and through Dr. Sefa’s specialized training program I have felt prepared and supported from day one of employment. I was so impressed with the in-depth week long training done at Oceanside, CA. It was truly a unique opportunity to get first hand insight into the day to day lives of our service members coupled with a deep dive into C&P exams in regards to appropriate documentation.
Furthermore, I have had continued access to the VMG team for any situation that has arisen – basic or complicated. I would absolutely recommend VMG to any provider considering serving our Veterans.

The VA Disability Examiner training I received through Veterans Medical Group has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my health care career. The intense training of experiencing “a day in the life” of our service members not only enabled me to gain a profound appreciation for our veterans, but also made the learning curve for completing the evaluations much more manageable. Having been raised by Veterans, I would have been unprepared without this experience to understand how injuries occur.
It is Dr Sefa’s warm personality and manner of teaching that makes the content understandable to providers. She continues to provide advice and assistance if I ever have questions about completing an examination. I am grateful for this amazing experience thanks to the Veterans Medical Group. My hope is that more providers will have the opportunity to participate in this career-changing program.

The VMG training program is hands down the best preparation a new VA disability examiner can receive. I learned how to demystify the confusing VA documentation protocols, especially how to translate what I know as a clinician into language the VA needs to support a claim. What sets this program apart are the excursions to the local Marine and Navy bases. We had the opportunity to observe and interact with service members in their everyday work environments. Having never served, I could not have even imagined the stressors and hazards that service members deal with on a routine basis. Now I can easily imagine how these stressors can lead to chronic health issues that deserve thorough evaluation.
Dr. Sefa and military liasions Diallo Sullivan and Ken Willburn have cultivated an amazing learning experience that has yet to be matched by any other medical group I have worked with. They understand what clinicians need to know to be successful in their careers as VA disability examiners and in turn are ensuring that Veterans receive credible and effective exams.

I am so glad I decided to work with Dr. Sefa and VMG. Without the extensive training and guidance, I would be lost. Dr. Sefa’s program is top notch and I feel very supported in all aspects. I’m grateful and excited to be able to serve the nation’s Veterans.

Dr. Sarpoma I just wanted to take the time to say thank you for the opportunity to work with your wonderful organization. I was apprehensive about proceeding with the training because it is so different than what I do on a day to day basis. However, with your encouragement, education and guidance I took a chance and went to the training program. The training was fun, enlightening and so well organized. I met a bunch of wonderful people from all over and the knowledge gained by experiencing what our Veterans are exposed to was INVALUABLE!
The well organized teaching platform again was and is outstanding. I use the materials every time I see a Veteran. I truly enjoy meeting the Veterans and hearing their story . I feel it is a way to thank them for the service they gave to our country and provide a welcoming and respectful environment to voice their medical concerns. It is a different type of work without the stress and fast paced environment that I deal with on a daily basis, and yet is enjoyable and rewarding. This opportunity truly feels as if it will be life changing and allow me to close out my career in a rewarding and slower paced environment.
Your VMG team has been incredible! Well organized, kind and helpful!
Thank you Dr. Sarpoma for creating this pathway and for staying passionate with what you do and sharing your knowledge and skills. It is also amazing that you continue to provide support with a welcoming attitude and genuine desire for us all to succeed in helping our Veterans.
Also, love the chat group so supportive!

I had the pleasure of experiencing the Veterans Medical Group training session with Veteran Diallo, Dr. Sefa-Boakye, and company in February 2024. This was truly an eye opening experience to partake in firsthand everyday situations that our veterans have to go through. As an outsider, one would only see the finished product of the expert level performance of the military.
However, there is substantially more than what meets the eye. This VMG training session introduced me to a plethora of veteran hardships that plague our veterans throughout their military career and beyond. I experienced wearing a 65 pound back pack that’s bound to cause back issues if worn consistently over time. I manipulated heavy artillery that will definitely lead to multiple hand and shoulder scraps and scars with probable future hand and wrist arthritis. I stepped into and out of tanks with tight confinements while using 300 pound bulletproof doors that will shatter bones if the hands get caught in the doorway. I had the opportunity to squat in the guts of our military carriers that don’t have the spatial capacity to allow someone to stand upright.
Also, I heard the ear piercing sounds of being close proximity to air planes, hovercrafts, and ships that leads to constant ringing in the ears and difficulty hearing. These hardships appear scary and harsh to many civilians but the veterans welcome and thrive in these conditions without hesitation to protect our country. This training session was expert level as it was extremely hands on and literally on a military base. There were no replicas or pictures to educate us on what veterans go through.
We were actually able to experience a considerable amount of everyday activities firsthand without reservation. The in class training sessions broke down the many intricacies of performing veterans disability exams in a fashion that provokes extreme confidence. I now have a better understanding of the ailments that are inevitable to those that put their life on the line to serve for the betterment of our country. Thank you to the Veterans of the USA and thank you to VMG!
